During EA’s recent earnings call, the publisher revealed that it has sold over 4 million Battlefield 3 Premium subscriptions. Premium costs $50 (on average) and gives players free access to all DLC, exclusive in-game items, dog tags, and other goodies.
EA also revealed that it has grossed over $150 million in additional revenue from Premium and extra content on BF3. Last quarter, EA announced that Premium had passed 3.5 million members, so it looks like both Battlefield 3 and Premium are seeing steady sales, almost 2 years after the game was released. Back in February, EA reported sales of almost 3 million subscriptions, so it looks like it’s seeing a steady growth of 500,000 subscribers per quarter.
And there’s a good reason why Premium memberships are still selling. Besides giving access to a ton of BF3 content, Premium owners will also get access to the upcoming Battlefield 4 beta. The Beta will kick off this Fall, likely in September. Recently, DICE concluded an alpha trial of the game.
In addition, EA revealed that Origin had surpassed 50 million members. Origin is required to play Battlefield 3 at this point, and is tied into Battlelog.
